Evaluating Lesson Plans
I will be evaluating three lesson plans for my ETEC 424 course.
For the evaluation, I will be implementing the RAT Matrix
to Identify the
Replacement, Amplification, and Transformation
for the integration of technology for each lesson.
I have learned how to navigate several new
technology resources while taking this course.
One is how to make a
blog, e-portfolio, global citizenship,
social media integraton,
and give those credits when credit is due.
LESSON ONE.
Pets are Special
This lesson plan is designed to integrate technology utilizing;
the students will create a classroom blog about their current, desired, or adopted pet(s).
The technology integration encourages and engages students in writing on their blogs.
The students will make a daily blog post writing about their pets and posting videos and pictures.
I believe this lesson is planned out appropriately for the students. Integrating technology into the classroom will be fun to engage students in their writing and learn how to communicate with peers in digital text via blog. The technology used (Blog) has a clear purpose, and the writing activity about pets is grade-appropriate. I believe that this lesson meets all the required standards for Elar, and the technology incorporated into the task has a meaningful purpose for the lesson. The relative advantage of utilizing the technology integration strategies is clear and purposeful.
Lesson 2.
Think Before You Drink
The lesson plan designed for, Think Before You Drink utilizes technology to analyze data collected over various aspects of water quality. The student will create a spreadsheet for the collected data and determine if the water is safe to drink. The Students will use probeware to test the water to analyze. The Students will work in small groups and communicate about the data collected. If the water is not safe to drink, they will write a letter to the city or business about their findings.
I feel this lesson is planned out appropriately and meets all required standards. Students will be engaged in hands-on learning to collect water samples with the technology utilized. The probware is a digital scientific lab that provides hands-on science through a combination of probeware sensors and data loggers for gathering real-time data for experiments.
The relative advantage of utilizing the technology integration strategies is clear and purposeful.
Lesson 3.
A Tour of our Classroom
Social Studies K-1
This lesson plan is designed for the students to use what they know to help other students be more confident in a new learning environment by creating a tour that maps out essential features of the classroom and states rules and procedures for that area. The students will create a digital map of the classroom. The students will take various pictures of things and rules in the classroom and insert them into a page on Wixie by using a digital tool.
I feel this lesson is plan is designed for K-1. I think that 2-3 could also utilize this lesson as well. The lesson meets all standards, and the technology being used is meaning full, and purposeful.
